200mm edge length by 59mm tall at the heel, 65HRC AISI W2 Tool Steel clayless honyaki gyuto.
Over the years the biggest bar to getting my work into the hands of those who would likely appreciate it most has been pricing. My work is unique in many ways, and I’ve spent years developing and improving on the various concepts I’ve worked out to create it. Days, weeks, months…in some cases years. All with the goal of increasing performance on every level. Perfect forward balance. Weight (either light or heavy depending on the customer’s preference). Feel…comfort. Fit and finish.
And most obviously and importantly…superior cutting efficiency.
But there’s still that pricing issue.
Meet my solution. A completely new construction methodology and the knives resulting from it. A creation process derived from my existing methods, but modified for efficiency…with the only restrictions being no loss in quality, and no loss in performance. Every blade is the same 65-66HRC differentially hardened AISI W2 tool steel I use in my $1k-$6k full custom knives. Set profiles and sizes (150mm-170mm ko-gyuto/ko-nabunka, 190mm-210mm gyuto/nabunka, 210mm-230mm gyuto/nabunka) allow me to make these blades much more quickly and without the necessary but time consuming customer interaction to create a full custom. No customization is available beyond an optional leather saya.
Set prices that are far lower than my customs ($650 without a saya for the smallest knives, to $950 with the optional saya for the largest) are the benefit, along with a unique rustic but aggressive character I’ve worked very hard to create in my process. From the heavy patina to the undecorated, beyond comfortable, choji oil stabilized oak, walnut, hickory, silver poplar, and maple handles. Each knife is an individual…impossible to be duplicated.
If you choose the custom handmade leather saya option, please allow 72hrs for processing before shipping. Thank you!
*International orders will be contacted with an additional shipping quote.
